Why build something from scratch when most web services these days come with an awesome API (Application Programming Interface) that will let you use their tools. Yahoo Search not only has a simple API, but the Perl module Yahoo::Search makes it even easier. You can tie into Yahoo's search engine through your Perl application to gather, sort and display the data you want.
