Perl on Google's App Engine

Brad Fitzpatrick, a perl hacker working for Google, has announced that his 20% project will be putting Perl on the App Engine. I have to say that more support for languages like Perl and Ruby on App Engine can only make it more attractive to a wider array of programmers. Are there any open source buffs out there willing to step up and help him out?
