Elegantly cheating mmorpgs using perl

Sunday August 17, 2008
No, we're not talking about World of Warcraft here, but a lesser populated web based MMO called Hobo Wars. While I don't advocate cheating or hacking of any kind, turning a blind eye to things like this is crazy for a couple of reasons. One, it's a perfectly legitimate Perl script that contains a lot of good examples on parsing and dealing with web pages. Two, it serves as an example to web site operators that if you're trying to run a legitimate business, you can't invest too much time in hardening your application against bots and attacks. Check it out!
